DANCE EDUCATION CONFERENCE 2010 The 3rd Dance Education Conference (DEC 2010) will be held on 7, 8 and 9 September at The Republic Cultural Centre. DEC 2010 is organised by the Co-Curricular Activities Branch, Ministry of Education and supported by a team of dance professionals and educators in Singapore. Themed ‘Unleashing the Potential of Dance Education’, DEC 2010 will feature both international and Singapore’s own dance professionals and trainers. The conference revisits key pedagogical issues like the value of dance education as well as the approaches (and associative challenges) to effective dance teaching. Aspects in dance psychology examined include motivational strategies for teaching dance to students of different age groups, helping students cope with dance stress accruing to preparations for performance and fostering a safe dance learning environment. Heads of Department, dance CCA teachers-in-charge, dance instructors and dance practitioners are strongly encouraged to attend DEC 2010. The cost per participant is $50. Registration is online also via our portal, http://dance.itspirals.com/. Applications will be considered on a first-come-first-serve basis. The closing date for application is Friday, 27 August 2010. Successful applicants will be informed accordingly via e-mail. Principals will be sent an e-invitation soon to attend the General Assembly of DEC 2010 on 7 September 2010.
